Job Title: Roofing Site Supervisor
Reports to: Project Manager / Construction Manager
Location: Yorkshire & North West
Job Purpose:
The Roofing Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of roofing projects, ensuring they are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and within agreed timelines. The supervisor will manage roofing teams, coordinate with subcontractors, ensure compliance with UK building regulations, and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead roofing teams, ensuring work is completed on time and to specification.
- Assign tasks to roofing operatives and provide leadership and guidance on-site.
- Ensure roofing teams are working efficiently and maintain a high level of performance and morale.
- Conduct regular safety briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to ensure the safety of all workers.
- Monitor site conditions and take proactive measures to prevent accidents or hazards.
- Ensure that workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and work at height safety measures.
- Supervise any subcontractors on-site and ensure they are adhering to the project specifications and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain communication with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered on time and of the correct quality.
- Keep accurate records of daily activities, including worker attendance, materials used, and project progress.
- Report on the project's status, safety issues, and any concerns or delays.
- Document accidents, incidents, or safety violations and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Provide on-site training for roofing operatives, particularly in safe working practices and the proper use of tools and equipment.
- Monitor material usage and ensure it is used efficiently to prevent waste and over-ordering.
- Ensure roofing tools and equipment are in good working condition and arrange for maintenance or repairs as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in roofing, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of UK roofing standards, including building regulations, roofing materials, and techniques.
- Health & Safety: Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including CDM regulations and working at height requirements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with workers, clients, and management.
- Leadership: Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team motivation, development, and performance management.
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and take appropriate actions to resolve them quickly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) - essential.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification - desirable.
- NVQ Level 3 in Roofing (or equivalent) - desirable.
- First Aid at Work certification - desirable.
