Site Supervisor (Civil or M&E) - Necton 400kV Substation

Location: Necton
Start Date: Early May 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Site-Based | 6-Month Rolling Contract
Rate: £400 per day (Outside IR35)

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Supervisor (Civil or M&E) to join a major energy infrastructure project at Necton 400kV Substation. This is a hands-on, site-based role working closely with the Site Manager to coordinate and supervise site activities, subcontractors, and ensure all works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise civil or M&E works on site, ensuring safe and efficient delivery in line with programme requirements.
  2. Monitor subcontractor performance and provide daily site support and guidance.
  3. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, site safety standards, and company procedures.
  4. Support implementation of Safe Systems of Work and issue Permits to Dig.
  5. Assist in maintaining accurate records, producing reports, and updating progress.
  6. Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example on site.
  7. Assist with quality assurance processes, including the preparation of as-built documentation.
  8. Communicate effectively with the Site Manager and wider project team.
  9. Support client objectives and contribute to meeting project KPIs.

Essential Requirements

  1. Full UK driving licence.
  2. National Grid Competent Person - NSI 6 & 8 (Full).
  3. SSSTS, SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely.
  4. IOSH Environmental or equivalent.
  5. CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
  6. HSG47 qualification.
  7. First Aid certified.
  8. Minimum 5 years' experience in the Transmission & Distribution sector, preferably on National Grid projects.
  9. Previous supervisory experience in a civil or M&E discipline.

Desirable

  1. HNC/HND in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor.
  3. Impressed Voltage training.

Working Conditions

  1. Site-based role requiring the ability to safely move around construction environments for extended periods (up to 10 hours/day).
  2. Will involve national travel; candidates must be able to arrange their own travel and accommodation.
  3. 50 hours per week, with flexibility required depending on project demands.
