YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE RUNNING A PLANT / SITE IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SECTOR FOR THIS ROLE!


The purpose of the Site Manager is to ensure that the site that you run is operated as efficiently and safely as possible, in compliance with relevant regulation; and that it delivers outstanding service to its customers.

You will manage the safety of all people on the site and for site compliance with regard to health; welfare; people management; cost; quality; legislative; and environmental matters. You are responsible for ensuring that site targets are achieved. You will need to communicate with external customers including clients, the Environment Agency, Animal Health and any visitors to the site.

The Site Manager is expected to be an ambassador of the company through championing the Values and culture.

Key Responsibilities

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.

Plant Operations

  1. Responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the plant with specific regard to planning and managing the processing of all feedstocks.
  2. Communicating plant capacity to the sales team in advance.
  3. Maximising operating efficiency and margins for the site ensuring operations are within the agreed financial P&L for the current financial year.
  4. Reporting and advising of any discrepancies within the site's P&L to the Regional Operations Manager.
  5. Planning with the maintenance team and any contractors any works to be scheduled throughout the year and ensuring these critical times are discussed with the wider business.
  6. Ensure key assets are kept in working order with clear maintenance programs and method of locating and storing these assets.
  7. Manage and be responsible for balancing capex and maintenance costs.
  8. Reporting, analysing and addressing variances within the weekly, monthly and annual KPIs' to the Regional Operation Manager and the Operations Director.
  9. Work with the Regional Operations Manager on projects from initialisation to completion to ensure consistency.
  10. Ensure site achieves and continues with PAS110 compliance. Support the wider teams with securing required permits, licenses, exemptions to site.
  11. Review and focus on planning spreading operations for maximum efficiency with the transport Operations Manager and the Regional Manager as required.
  12. Be proactive in sourcing outlets for products which will increase and maximise revenues.
  13. Consistently liaise with local farmers, contractors with specific emphasis on timings and quantities to continue the steady operation of the site.
  14. Be proactive in problem solving any site issues that are raised for example- invoice reconciliation, weighbridge issues, diversion of vehicles.
  15. Ensure correct control and process of the site Gas to Grid unit and undertake resolutions as required.

Health and Safety

  1. Drive & enforce a Health and Safety culture and associated behaviours to promote the Company's Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies in accordance with the Integrated Management System.
  2. Promote within the team and facilitate training where needed to ensure the team use the Company Safety Application to report all near misses and incidents.
  3. Complete with the support of the Compliance team any site investigations following near misses, incidents or accidents and support with the implementation of corrective actions including facilitate any team training required.
  4. Follow security procedures for site and workshop. Ensure team are fully trained on the importance of site and workshop security, reviewing procedures as necessary to ensure full site security.
  5. Adhere to and promote the Company's Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies in accordance with the Integrated Management System.
  6. Follow safe working practices to ensure work area is maintained and kept tidy. Ensure team are fully trained and provide advice, coaching and mentoring to ensure that all team members follow safe working practices as per company policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure the team is fully compliant with all mandatory training needs requirements as determined by the business.
  8. Maintaining adequate records, samples, lab tests regimes as per company standard and be able to produce them as required.
  9. Managing complaints as company standard and ensure all those that need to be aware are communicated with in a timely manner.
  10. Liaising as required with Environmental Health Organisation, Environmental Agency, HSE, Animal Health and be prepared for audits and show rounds as required.
  11. Maintaining PAS110; ABPR certifications throughout the year.
  12. Adhering to planning conditions and working with the Strategy planning team.

Team Management and Development

  1. Coach and mentor direct reports and the wider team within the region through regular training and development ensuring performance expectations are met. Work with the Regional Operations Manager and other key stakeholders in instances where performance expectations are not met.
  2. Provide clear leadership, guidance and advice to your direct reports and wider team to deliver the site and regional targets and objectives, ensuring strong communication is maintained to build a skilled motivated team that deliver agreed output.
  3. Ensure new staff inductions, 1:1s, probation reviews and IGP reviews are conducted and maintained throughout the year.
  4. Review succession planning and talent with Regional Operations Manager.
  5. Support the Regional Manager with Quest and action planning for employee engagement.
  6. Be proactive in the resourcing and recruiting of any vacancies with your team, working with HR to ensure compliance.

Policies and Procedures

  1. Demonstrate a full and thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures and the requirements of the Integrated Management System (IMS) including Quality Procedures (QP, AQD, AQDe), Working Instructions, Safe Systems of Work and Standard Operating Procedures for your department/division of the business and act in accordance with these at all times.
  2. To complete all mandatory company training and any additional training as provided by the company.
  3. Promote and use the Company Safety Application to report all near misses and incidents.
