Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Site Manager (Fire Protection) to oversee fire safety system installations and maintenance. The ideal candidate will manage on-site teams, ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety standards. This role would also be ideal for a trade taking the next steps into middle management from site.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Supervision & Coordination:
    • Oversee the installation, inspection, and maintenance of passive protection systems.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to fire safety regulations.
    • Coordinate daily site activities and manage workforce scheduling.
  2. Health, Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure strict compliance with Construction Design Management Regulations 1995.
    • Conduct site safety checks and implement accident prevention measures.
    • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety procedures.
  3. Contractor Management:
    • Supervise fire protection subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Provide training and guidance to on-site personnel (Toolbox Talks).
    • Conduct performance evaluations and ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Ensure that safe systems of work are strictly adhered to in line with company policy and procedures.
  4. Quality Control & Inspections:
    • Conduct routine site inspections.
    • Identify and resolve installation or maintenance issues.
    • Maintain documentation of inspections, testing, and compliance reports.
    • Ensure that the Construction Phase Plan is maintained, monitored, and reviewed with the Contracts Manager.
  5. Client & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and inspectors.
    • Provide regular progress reports to senior management.
    • Address project changes, delays, and issues proactively.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Education & Experience:
    • Diploma/Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
    • Proven experience as a Site Manager in fire protection or a similar role.
  2. Technical Skills:
    • Good knowledge of fire protection systems.
    • Familiarity with Building Regulation e.g., Approved Document B.
    • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office.
  3. Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Effective communication and organisational skills.
  4. Certifications & Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
    • SMSTS/CSCS certification (or equivalent).
    • First Aid training is desirable; training will be provided for the right candidate.
