Role: Site Manager

Civil Engineering & Construction

Location: Dumfries & Galloway, Cumbria, and the Central Belt

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Excellent rates | Paid overtime available

Start time: 7:00am

Talent Media is proud to be partnering with our client to recruit an experienced Site Manager to lead the successful delivery of civil engineering and construction projects across Southern Scotland.

Our client is a fast-growing, family-run business with a reputation for high-quality project delivery, strong values, and a collaborative team culture. Recently named Best Small/Medium Business in Dumfries & Galloway 2024, they are now seeking a hands-on, dependable Site Manager to oversee key projects across the region.

About the Role

As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for daily operations on a variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects. You'll ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard, while keeping your site team supported and engaged.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Coordinating all site activity, subcontractors, and site labour
  2. Managing site health & safety, including inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
  3. Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate daily records
  4. Ensuring all work meets quality standards and technical specifications
  5. Managing materials, plant deliveries, and general logistics
  6. Addressing site issues and driving performance on the ground
  7. Acting as the point of contact for clients, consultants, and inspectors
  8. Supporting and mentoring junior staff and team members
Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced construction or civil engineering professional with strong leadership and site management skills. The ideal candidate will be calm under pressure, organised, and solutions-focused, with a proactive and team-centred approach.

You’ll ideally bring:

  1. Proven experience as a Site Manager in civil engineering and/or general construction
  2. A practical, hands-on leadership style
  3. Strong understanding of technical drawings, specs, and on-site health & safety
  4. Confidence in communicating with clients, teams, and senior management
  5. A methodical and reliable approach to project delivery
Essential Requirements:
  1. SMSTS (or SSSTS with intent to complete SMSTS)
  2. Valid CSCS card
  3. Full UK driving licence
  4. Experience delivering groundworks or construction projects
  5. Willingness to work away from home if required (Monday to Friday)
Desirable (but not essential):
  1. First Aid at Work
  2. CAT & Genny, Temporary Works, or Streetworks certification
  3. Plant tickets (e.g. excavator, dumper, roller)
