Job description

Great opportunity for a heavy civils Site Manager in the Portsmouth region.

My client is a very successful main contractor operating in the civils and marine sector.

Site Manager Responsibilities
  1. Review specification and drawings. Complete material requisition form and materials Returns Form.
  2. Identify requirements and complete subcontract procurement schedule & provide information for subcontract enquiries.
  3. Review prices, comparison table, attend subcontract appraisal interviews.
  4. Manage contractual paperwork including variations (PMI, CTQs, Early Warnings and CE's).
  5. Co-ordinate subcontractor design where applicable.
  6. Complete Temporary Works Design Brief and send to the Design Department.
  7. Produce internal snagging list & arrange snagging to be carried out.
  8. Arrange client inspection & completion of handover form.
  9. Ensure all HSE legislation and site rules are followed.
  10. Develop and update the Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Plans, Waste Management plan, Carbon Calculator and Materials Management Plan.
  11. Promote safe environmental and quality culture and record achievements.
  12. Produce method statements and risk assessments.
  13. Carry out health, safety & environmental inspections of site works weekly.
  14. Devise Lift Plans if Appointed Person qualified.
  15. Ensure that timesheets are fully completed and accurate for the hours worked on site.
  16. Review and update materials requirement list, to include long lead in items.
  17. Update contract programme weekly with project planner.
  18. Ensure daily/weekly briefing and review meetings are carried out.
  19. Maintain/manage site records including those by other site personnel.
  20. Completion of Project Close-Out reports.
  21. Develop and review regularly method statements and risk assessments.
  22. Review and ensure the relevant company procedures are complied with.
  23. Involved in production of interim valuations and final accounts taking into account variations and day works.
  24. Produce Monthly report.
  25. Update commercial forecast in line with current project programme with the QS.
  26. Identify and provide information to QS for variations.
  27. Review and authorise subcontractor time sheets.
  28. Meet with residents/landowners/stakeholders to agree the method and timing of works & meet with utility companies to agree diversions.
  29. Monitor the morale & motivation of the team.
  30. Monitor performance standards & manage expectations.
Requirements of the Site Manager
  1. Ideally HNC or HND in civil engineering OR Bachelor's in Civil engineering or Bachelor of Science degree.
  2. Heavy civils experience.
  3. Marine project experience is desirable.
