Site Manager

Job Overview:

My client is seeking a highly organised and experienced Site Manager to oversee the refurbishment of a school in Surrey. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all on-site activities and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, especially in a live school environment.
• Coordinate with the project manager, client representatives, and local authorities.
• Monitor project progress and report regularly on status, risks, and issues.
• Manage site logistics, deliveries, and storage of materials.
• Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, permits, and H&S documentation.
• Ensure minimal disruption to school operations and maintain a secure and clean site.
• Organise and chair regular site meetings with contractors and stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment or construction projects, ideally within the education sector.
• Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• CSCS card (Black or White).
• First Aid certification.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong knowledge of health & safety, CDM regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple trades in a live environment.

Desirable:

• Experience working on school refurbishments or projects in sensitive environments.
• Asbestos Awareness certification.
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
