Site Manager

Overview of Role:

  1. Reporting to and working with the Project Manager.
  2. Manage Site Health and Safety.
  3. Supervising all works undertaken.
  4. Managing sub-contractors.
  5. Organising labour and materials.
  6. Lead Progress Meetings.
  7. Assess the quality of work that the sub-contractors are delivering.
  8. Assist the quality manager with all QA sign-offs.
  9. Dealing with any technical issues that may arise.
  10. Ensure safe working practices are maintained to company procedures and industry standards.
  11. Attend everyday meetings with the management and other trades.
  12. Manage productivity and push the project towards completion.
  13. Manage schedule of works.
  14. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and partners by having morning daily briefings and regular site meetings.
  15. Compile install, repair, and maintenance programmes.
  16. Assist and enable surveys.
  17. Management of specialist sub-contractors.
  18. Provide technical assistance and act as site AP.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

Health and Safety:

  1. Be aware of all health and safety processes and procedures, including in-depth knowledge of the H&S management system and its documents.
  2. Instigate and monitor work activities on site, ensuring and enforcing correct health and safety procedures.
  3. Identify and encourage others to report safety observations and near misses to promote a positive safety culture.
  4. Report accidents, incidents, and complaints immediately in compliance with Company procedures.
  5. Undertake site inductions of employees, sub-contractors, and visitors.
  6. Keep appropriate records in accordance with current legislation and as advised by Project Leads and Health and Safety Managers.
  7. Responsible for the morale, discipline, and continued development and training of employees working on site.
  8. Communicate daily briefings, Tool Box talks, method statements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and other required documents with the site team (can be delegated to the Site Supervisor where appropriate).
  9. Review and ensure sub-contractors' method statements and risk assessments comply with FLIWater Health and Safety management system.
  10. Produce and amend CPP, risk assessments, and methods statements as required to cover all site activities.

General:

  1. Ensure that site-specific requirements are maintained.
  2. Have a good understanding of the contractual requirements of the site, including awareness of commercial/operational constraints.
  3. Ensure discipline is maintained on site at all times, correcting behaviours/non-conformances where required.
  4. Ensure appropriate permits, consents, notices, and licences are in place to facilitate works.
  5. Produce short-term programmes for planning, execution, and monitoring of works, assisting in long-term programming with the Project Lead.
  6. Work with the management team to ensure full compliance with FLIWater SHEQ policies and procedures.
  7. Liaise on site with the client, the public, and other stakeholders.
  8. Control site resources to ensure safe, efficient, and productive working.
  9. Control waste management on site, including management of general waste and contaminated soils and water in accordance with current legislation.

Technical:

  1. Liaise with the design team to overcome install problems/health and safety concerns.
  2. Review drawings from production to site install and highlight any potential clashes.
  3. Review and audit sub-contractors and suppliers.
  4. Oversee temporary works and liaise with sub-contractors on temporary works implementation.
  5. Conduct site visits with cranage contractor.
  6. Oversee ground surveys ahead of site works.
  7. Manage enabling works.
  8. Compile and write site/project-specific RAMS.
  9. Review and comment on Sub-Contractor RAMS & SSOWs.
