An experienced Site Manager is required to oversee groundworks and civil engineering projects across Northamptonshire. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including both commercial and residential developments. The position is initially freelance, with the potential to transition into a permanent role following a successful probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee and coordinate groundworks and civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Site Supervision: Manage site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce strict health and safety standards in line with UK regulations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, engineers, and local authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Quality Control & Reporting: Conduct site inspections, manage progress reports, and resolve any on-site challenges.

Projects Include:

Commercial Groundworks

  • Retail car parks and multi-storey steel frame foundation systems.
  • Infrastructure and civil engineering projects with Network Rail.
  • Highway bridge deck repairs and maintenance.
  • Ecological works managed under Natural England and the Environment Agency.

Residential Groundworks

  • Infrastructure works, deep drainage, and foundation systems.
  • Plot groundworks for developments ranging from self-build projects to large-scale 300+ unit national PLC housing schemes.
  • Site clearance, decontamination, and remediation work.

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive experience in site management within groundworks and civil engineering, covering both commercial and residential projects.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure, deep drainage, foundation systems, and ground remediation.
  • Relevant qualifications: SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card preferred), and First Aid at Work.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities to ensure projects run smoothly.
  • Full UK driving licence.
