Site Engineer - Heavy Civils

Location: Rotherham, UK

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Site Engineer on behalf of our esteemed client for an exciting heavy civils project located in Rotherham. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing on-site activities, ensuring that the project is executed according to the design, specifications, and standards. This role demands a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and manage on-site operations, including setting out, leveling, and surveying the site.
2. Ensure that all materials used and work performed meet the project specifications and industry standards.
3. Oversee the implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
4. Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project progression.
5. Monitor project progress, including tracking milestones, schedules, and quality assurance.
6. Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise on site.
7. Coordinate and manage the logistics of site operations, including plant and materials.
8. Prepare and maintain accurate site records and reports.
9. Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) is preferred.
2. Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Site Engineer, particularly on heavy civils projects such as highways, bridges, tunnels, or large-scale earthworks.
3. Strong knowledge of site engineering practices, construction methods, and industry standards.
4. Proficiency in using surveying and site engineering equipment and software.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound engineering decisions under pressure.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated experience in managing site operations, schedules, and resources.
8. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
