Job description

Site Engineer - Leeds
Reporting to the Site Agent, the Site Engineer will be responsible for survey control and setting out detailed works as per contract drawings, ensuring high-quality and safe execution. The role requires a proactive approach to technical challenges, collaboration with stakeholders, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Take ownership of survey control and setting out using contract drawings.
  2. Conduct site levelling and surveying to ensure accurate implementation.
  3. Manage and oversee construction activities, ensuring quality standards are met.
  4. Provide technical advice to subcontractors, operatives, and site teams.
  5. Ensure materials and human resources are efficiently allocated and utilised.
  6. Produce site diaries, allocation sheets, and work progress reports.
  7. Maintain drawing registers and accurate records for site documentation.
  8. Ensure all design documents are correctly managed and updated.
  9. Promote a safe working environment, ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, and legal regulations.
  10. Ensure the site complies with local authority regulations and industry standards.
  11. Carry out risk assessments and ensure method statements are followed.
  12. Maintain defect-free handovers and resolve any technical challenges proactively.
  13. Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, and wider project team.
  14. Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
  15. Ensure effective communication with the general public when required.
  16. Support collaborative working to ensure timely resolution of project challenges.
  17. Ensure compliance with project governance and client audit requirements.
  18. Work closely with the audit team to maintain high-quality project documentation.
  19. Maintain audit-ready documentation for quality and compliance reviews.
  20. Accurate and timely setting out of works.
  21. Completion of projects within required quality standards.
  22. Compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  23. Efficient coordination of resources and materials.
  24. Positive engagement with clients and stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications
  1. Experience in setting out on civil engineering projects.
  2. Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and legal regulations.
  3. Specific experience in drainage, earthworks, structures, and water projects.
  4. CSCS Card & Cable Avoidance Training.
  5. Self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong communication skills.
  6. Temporary Works Coordination.
  7. Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  8. SSSTS/SMSTS, NEBOSH, or IOSH certification.
