Job description

Sphere Solutions are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Land Surveyor to join a leading contractor on a significant civil engineering project at M3 Junction 9. This role is a great opportunity for a surveyor with a strong understanding of machine control and 3D modelling using Trimble Works OS.


This position will involve a mix of fieldwork and office-based data processing, with an 80/20 split.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out as-built surveys using GPS rovers.
  2. Process data using LSS software to generate accurate cut/fill take-offs for progress tracking and commercial reporting.
  3. Support and adjust Trimble machine control models directly in the field.
  4. Communicate effectively with machine operators to explain design models and changes.
  5. Maintain detailed and accurate digital quality inspection records on a tablet, ensuring all work complies with Inspection and Test Plans.
  6. Provide regular reports on progress and any quality issues.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as an Engineering Land Surveyor on civil engineering or highways projects.
  2. Strong working knowledge of Trimble Works OS.
  3. Proficient in LSS software for data processing.
  4. CSCS Card - essential.
  5. Solid understanding of Inspection and Test Plans and quality control processes.
  6. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to adapt to field design changes and provide practical solutions.
  8. Drone Pilot Licence - advantageous.
