Job Title: Site Agent - Highway Maintenance Framework
Location: Horncastle
Contract Type: Contract, 5 months work
Reports to: Framework or Project Manager
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, occasional weekends or nights as required
Salary: £300 p/d Inside IR35
Role Overview:
The Site Agent is responsible for managing daily operations on a busy highway maintenance framework. This includes supervising direct labour gangs, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring safe high-quality delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance works. Activities will include pothole and carriageway repairs, footpath reconstruction, street lighting works, surfacing operations and general highways maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate site gangs and subcontractors to deliver works safely and efficiently
- Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments and permits to work
- Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental standards and promote safe working practices
- Oversee and deliver works including:
- Pothole and patch repairs
- Kerbing and footpath reconstruction
- Street lighting repairs and installations
- Carriageway planing and resurfacing
- Drainage repairs and gully replacements
- General reactive and emergency works
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Liaise with client representatives, local authorities and utility providers
- Schedule plant, labour and materials to ensure smooth delivery of works
- Maintain accurate records including site diaries, as-builts and photographic evidence
- Monitor site progress, address any delays or issues and report on productivity
- Support commercial teams with valuations, variations and cost control
- Deliver site briefings, inductions and toolbox talks as required
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- HNC, HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Proven experience in highway maintenance or civil engineering, ideally under a framework contract
- Valid SMSTS and CSCS (Supervisor or Manager)
- NRSWA Supervisor (Units 1 to 16)
- Full UK driving licence
