Job Description:

Job Advert: Signalling & Telecoms Engineer
Location: Northwest England

Are you an I.T-savvy engineer with a passion for telecoms and signalling systems? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for a Signalling & Telecoms Engineer to join our team in the Northwest of England. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting projects, playing a key role in driving improvement and ensuring the successful delivery of our telecommunications and signalling systems.

While experience in signalling is a plus, we also welcome candidates with backgrounds in wider communications technology, such as CCTV. Knowledge of cybersecurity and managing firewalls would be an added advantage but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the asset management team to analyse and report on asset performance and condition, helping to improve operations through the implementation of renewals and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for the delivery of internal projects.
  • Assist in complex root cause investigations, ensuring that solutions are found efficiently.
  • Offer technical support to frontline maintainers, helping to resolve issues in real time.
  • Engage effectively with stakeholders at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to ensure all contractual obligations are met to a high standard.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • I.T-savvy, with a good understanding of modern telecommunications technology.
  • Experience in signalling or broader communications technologies (CCTV, networking).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and firewall management (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in impactful projects from day one, making a real difference in the way we manage and deliver our services.
