The Gainsborough site processes spent hens, chickens and broiler breeders to meet the highest standards required by our customers and the RSPCA, so concern for bird welfare is central to everything we do.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a full-time, reliable and experienced Class 1 Driver to work on-site shunting vehicles. Working Monday to Friday, this is a day shift position.

Duties will include:

• Shunting vehicles on site safely
• Vehicle safety inspections and checks
• Operating a moffett truck
• Compliance with tachograph requirements, vehicle driving requirements, and driver’s working hours
• Unloading modules from the vehicle when required
• Completion of relevant documentation

There may be few occasions when the job holder will be required to collect live poultry from farms located throughout the UK. If this is required, duties will also include:

• Safe and efficient travelling throughout the UK
• Reloading modules containing live poultry onto the rear of the vehicle
• Responsibility for bird welfare from the point of loading and throughout the journey back to site
• Reporting any issues identified during the collection and throughout the journey back to site to the transport management team
• Nights out may be required

Duties may also include the distribution of chilled or frozen products throughout the UK.

Working on a busy site, the successful applicant must have previous experience driving vehicles in tight spaces on sites.

Transporting live animals or poultry and operating moffett or forklift trucks is preferred but not essential as all training will be provided for this position.

Shift Pattern: Full Time, Monday to Friday, Day shifts
