Shore Based Marine Engineer UK

P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Shore Based Marine Engineer to join their team based in Lowestoft on a full-time, permanent basis.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Technical Superintendent you will undertake maintenance and repairs, on location, of a growing fleet of CTVs around the UK with work tasks ranging from minor equipment replacements to removing and installing engines. You will work with crewmembers and colleagues across these sites to ensure the ongoing availability of the CTV fleet.

Main Responsibilities:

1. General vessel maintenance, inspection and repairs.
2. Engine changes (Engine types include: MTU, MAN and Volvo Penta).
3. Gearbox changes (including Twindisc and Servogear).
4. Fault-finding and repairs of vessel electrical, hydraulic and heating systems.
5. Work closely with the crews to understand their problems and train them to service/check their vessel.
6. Travel and work away from home at multiple sites around the UK and occasionally Europe.
7. Take a flexible approach to working hours and to work in accordance with operational requirements (including in the event of breakdowns/emergency repairs).
8. Demonstrate and maintain expected QHSE standards whilst working on any vessels, on any sites, and promote a positive safety culture.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Experience on MTU, MAN and Volvo Penta diesel engines or experience as a field service engineer for engine manufacturers (essential).
2. Demonstrable previous experience in a service engineer role.
3. Previous experience working on high-speed engines.
4. Ability to complete diagnostic checks and in-depth fault finding.
5. Preferred L3 Diploma/NVQ Engineering or equivalent (desirable).
6. Previous experience in a marine related role (desirable).

4. Full, valid driving license.
5. Fluent in written and spoken English.

Working Hours and Benefits:

1. The shift pattern is 14 days on and 7 off.
2. 72 hours per week due to the nature of remote working/being away from home and work being done in the mornings and later afternoons.
3. Overtime in busier weeks.
4. Occasional travel to Europe.
5. Use of company vehicle, phone, laptop and accommodation whilst on shift, when working away from home.
6. Enhanced holiday (7 days additional holiday, in excess of the statutory minimum, which increases by a day per year to a max of 14 days).
