Shipping Lawyer - Newcastle

This International law firm with a recognised and prestigious Shipping Team are seeking a Solicitor to join its Marine Newcastle office. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse client base including P&I Clubs, shipowners, charterers, cargo owners, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and major ports and terminals.

Job Title: Associate

Location: Newcastle

Salary: Up to £65,000

Nature of Work:

  1. Manage major recovery actions for unpaid shipping and bunker claims
  2. Advise on vessel arrests
  3. Guide lenders on the recovery and sale of vessels under security documentation
  4. Resolve bill of lading disputes
  5. Support public inquests following fatalities, jurisdictional issues, and indemnity and contribution proceedings
  6. Advise on ship sale and purchase, terminal and port operations, and European Economic Interest Grouping
  7. Prepare and review standard terms and conditions

You will be a Qualified Solicitor or equivalent ideally with Maritime and contentious experience although candidates with a demonstrable interest in this area will be considered. Additionally, you will have a business development aptitude to promote the firm's Marine department through networking and business development activities.
