Job description

Interview: To be arranged directly with candidate

Join our professional and friendly team of Porters at Trinity Hall.

Based across three College sites, you will be required to carry out a wide range of security, safety, administrative, and front of house services. The role of Shift Porter is critical in day-to-day operations, and as the first point of contact, you will need to think quickly and make decisions under unexpected situations.

You are an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to join an excellent team. You will be passionate and committed to delivering the highest level of customer service to all our College members, as well as external clients.

You will have a good level of personal awareness and be able to build and maintain good relationships with clients, young people, and colleagues alike.

We want to hear from you!

Duties

  • Assist with the preparation and execution of internal and external events.
  • Ensure that contact with all visitors, students, staff, and Fellows is conducted with courtesy, professionalism, and respect at all times.
  • Maintain a courteous relationship with the public and exercise discretion over access to the College.
  • Provide disabled and less mobile students, guests, and visitors with reasonable requests for assistance.

Working Hours

Shift Porters work a Shift Pattern (11 weeks) including early (07:00-15:00) and late (15:00-23:00) shifts for an average of 7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. The pattern includes evenings and weekends; there is no requirement for night cover. Additional shifts may be required at short notice.

Eligibility Criteria

Experience in security and/or surveillance in a college environment is an advantage, though not essential, as long as you can evidence interaction with a wide cross-section of the public in a service-based environment or the equivalent. Good previous work references are essential.

Please note the College has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.

Further details about this position can be found in the further particulars. Interviews and selection may proceed before the closing date should some applicants prove to fulfill job criteria.

  • 25 days plus bank holidays annual entitlement (pro-rata for Part-time position).
  • Extra day's holiday every two years, up to a maximum of 30 days holiday in total.
  • Defined contribution pension scheme.
  • Meal on duty if available (daily allowance).
  • Uniform provided when required for the role.
