ABOUT YOU

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Shift Laboratory Technical to carry out the preparation, testing and reporting of submitted samples, by set methodology, as directed by senior personnel. This will include the use of basic and advanced instrumentation and the application of analytical techniques.

Required skills and experience:

  1. Ability to work unsupervised and to effectively manage time.
  2. Keen self-starter, motivated to upskill and improve own knowledge base.
  3. Skilled in the management and analysis of data, able to highlight anomalies and outliers.
  4. Knowledge of relevant laboratory operations/standards.
  5. Knowledge of relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  6. Experience in working under pressure whilst remaining professional.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will be required to carry out preparation, testing and reporting of submitted samples, by set methodology, as directed by senior personnel. This will include the use of basic and advanced instrumentation and the application of analytical techniques.

Key activities:

  1. Ensuring work conducted follows the agreed procedures as set out in the local Management system.
  2. Assist in the maintenance, servicing and calibration of equipment in accordance with relevant standards.
  3. Carry out testing in accordance with documented standards and test methods.
  4. Maintaining accurate records of testing and sample observations and calculations.
  5. Producing reports for samples tested and input of sample results into the Computer system.
  6. Assist with audits in accordance with external accreditation and internal standards as and when instructed to do so, whilst ensuring compliance is maintained.
  7. Investigate abnormal results to confirm or correct the situation, and if necessary, alert the appropriate staff.

This position will be based within Saltend Chemicals Park and the laboratory operation runs a 24-7, 365 days per year. As such, to ensure service continuity the shift rota will include working nights, weekends and bank holidays.
