Job description

Overview

The Safety, Health and Environmental Manager is accountable for ensuring compliance with local SHE laws and regulations, Nomad Foods SHE Standards, promoting a culture of safety and for developing and applying policies and procedures which are consistent with the Company’s vision, mission and values, as well as minimising Aunt Bessies exposure to safety, health and environmental risks.

The role reports directly to the Factory General Manager.

To ensure that all food manufactured complies with both Aunt Bessie’s and Customer specification BRCGS standards, to ensure legal compliance, food safety and product quality are adhered to at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Providing in-house expertise and resource to all departments to maintain a standard approach to problem solving
  • Implementing, tracking & monitoring the site annual SHE Improvement strategic plan
  • Driving safety culture by coaching and running strategic safety meetings, general SHE programmes and implementing strong SHE practices
  • Ensuring SHE strategies and policies are developed, monitored, reviewed and amended through appropriate consultation and ensure all statutory requirements are being upheld
  • Working with HR/Occupational Health Advisor colleagues in relation to interventions such as health related stress, ergonomic assessments and disability assessments to promote a safe and healthy working environment
  • Assisting in standalone safety systems for statutory safety inspection such as lifting equipment, pressure systems, fire systems and any other engineering legislative requirements
  • Auditing and continuously improving the site's SHE management system
  • Identifying SHE training needs, developing an annual training plan & risk assessment system and supporting the delivery of the programmes including monthly tool box talks and annual safety campaigns
  • Collecting, analysing and communicating statistical data related to all incidents, and tracking actions from audits, inspections and incidents
  • Liaising with external bodies including; HSE, Environment agency, insurers, auditors, independent claims superintendents, solicitors and the Global SHE team
  • Owning the SHE agenda at the daily and weekly operations review meetings
  • Supporting area managers with accident and incident investigations, providing governance and technical guidance to ensure thorough investigations establish root cause and suitable corrective actions
  • Collecting and collating utilities data for site measurement on energy use
  • Carbon data collections and reporting onto Nomad Foods global systems
  • Working with external auditors for annual submissions and audits for 14001, 45001, carbon reporting to demonstrate continuous ongoing improvement in compliance
  • Maintaining the companies environmental permit requirements for Freightliner Road
  • Communicating the key points of the company Environmental Management System to relevant personnel ensuring compliance with environmental legislation
  • Managing the site security team of 4 guards and monitoring CCTV for the security of the site
Qualifications
