The Company

Sharp and Carter are thrilled to be partnering with Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture (Australasia) MIMTA (AU), a subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation, which offers investment in sustainable areas of agriculture and forestry.

MIMTA (AU) manages Timberland and Agricultural assets across Australia and New Zealand, including a number of timber and agriculture owning managed companies for the group, overseeing these as the Investment Manager for these companies.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Director – Corporate & Agriculture Controller, your role will be broad, requiring you to be ‘hands-on’ and detail-oriented while serving as a trusted advisor and support to the business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of professionals responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial data to a variety of stakeholders within an expanding investment platform built over the past 25 years in Australia and New Zealand.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Involvement in reviewing monthly financial accounts of client entities and preparation for some holding companies of quarterly accounts.
2. Involvement in preparation of annual statutory financial reporting to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and stakeholder expectations, including adherence to IFRS and/or GAAP reporting standards as well as compliance with various tax or regulatory authorities.
3. Assist with the preparation of Quarterly Board reports.
4. Plan and allocate work and resources to ensure timely and accurate reporting and completion of periodic deliverables for client entities and management companies.
5. Oversee the preparation of cash flows for managed clients and ongoing reporting and management of cash flows, monitoring cash requirements for managed clients, and assisting with the management of debt facilities and bank compliance.
6. Assist with requirements of external and internal audits.
7. Involved with taxation compliance and management within the Australian entities, working in partnership with our tax consultants.

The Candidate

CA/CPA Qualified, you will have an excellent technical accounting base with a proven ability to handle a varied workload. To succeed, you will balance your detail-driven personality with the capacity to understand the bigger picture.

Other requirements include:

1. Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
2. An in-depth technical knowledge combined with demonstrated strategic and commercial awareness.
3. Prior experience with IFRS and/or GAAP reporting standards.
4. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation.
5. Mid-level to advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.
6. Most importantly, you are a collaborative finance professional that thrives working in a close-knit team.
