Job description

We are looking for a range of Technicians to join our casual pool on a sessional, fixed-term (6 months, with the view to extend) basis.

We're looking for a wide range of skills in technical theatre to support the department until the end of this academic year and beyond at our brand-new facilities located at City Campus, The Manchester College (our facilities include two theatres, seven equipped rehearsal studios, wardrobe & props store, and workshop).

These roles will provide technical and operational support of a high standard for all productions for The Arden School of Theatre and The Manchester College Performing Arts Department at our City Campus, Great Ducie Street, M3 1PT.

Roles required:

  • Lighting Technician.
  • Sound Technician.
  • Wardrobe Assistant / Costumer Designer / Maker.
  • Set Design and Construction.
  • Prop Designer.
  • Stage Manager.

Main Duties:

  • Installation, programming and operation of lighting, sound and audio-visual equipment for rehearsals and performances.
  • Set design, construction, rigging and de-rigging of set.
  • Costume design, construction, fitting, costume sourcing and general wardrobe tasks.
  • Prop design, creation, and sourcing.
  • Attend design, production meetings and departmental meetings.
  • Follow LTE Group's Health & Safety Policy, undertaking duties as required and ensure reasonable care is taken to maintain a healthy, safe place for staff, students, and members of the public.

Essential:

  • Previous industry experience working within your sector.
  • Experience of safely rigging and operating a range of Lighting fixtures, (including plotting and programming) sound and AV equipment.
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines within the theatre sector.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Desirable:

  • Industry related qualifications.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting or with young people.
  • Driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings and the occasional weekend.
