Service Technician

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established, multi-depot independent organisation, who are seeking a skilled Tool Hire Fitter to join their team at their Newmarket depot.

Reporting directly to the Workshop Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the service, repair, and preparation of a wide range of small plant, tools, and equipment for hire. Working Hours:
* Monday to Friday, 47.5-hour working week. (7:30am - 5:00pm)
* Overtime available at 1.5x the basic rate.
* 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with length of service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on diesel/petrol engines, hydraulic machinery, and electrical equipment.
2. Complete job records and pre-hire inspections using a tablet-based system.
3. Perform scheduled servicing and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is hire-ready.
4. Comply with all company procedures and health & safety regulations.
5. Work both independently and as part of a team to meet operational deadlines.
6. Maintain a high standard of punctuality and reliability.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience in the Plant & Tool Hire industry is essential.
2. Competence with small plant, tools, and general mechanical repairs.
3. CITB/NVQ qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
4. Full UK driving licence is essential.
