Port Service Technician

Location: Home based, travel UK wide

Basic Salary: £40-£45k per annum plus overtime

Our client is a leading provider in crane and lifting equipment solutions, seeking a skilled and experienced Crane and Lifting Equipment Technician to join our dynamic team specializing in their Port & Marine Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of client cranes and lifting equipment, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance.

Job Description:

As a Crane and Lifting Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  1. Carry out the commissioning, maintenance, inspection, and servicing of client cranes and lifting equipment throughout UK Port locations.
  2. Perform repairs and inspections on a variety of electrical equipment and systems.
  3. Conduct fault finding and repairs on hydraulic and mechanical equipment and systems.
  4. Manage the commissioning, maintenance, inspection, and servicing of a range of client mechanical equipment.
  5. Assist in spares identification and procurement.
  6. Produce clear, factual documented reports for all jobs.
  7. Rigging and lift planning.
  8. Ensure compliance with site HSEQ requirements.
  9. Collaborate with site staff to maintain a safe working environment.
  10. Minimise environmental risks during tasks and utilise available controls when offshore.
  11. Travel outside of the UK/Ireland for departmental assistance or training.

Skills & Competencies:

The successful candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:

  1. Apprentice served in either Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Hydraulic Engineering.
  2. Experience working within the crane industry.
  3. Experience with Liebherr, Gottwald, and other cranes is an advantage.
  4. Proficient in commissioning and fault finding on electro-mechanical and/or hydro-mechanical systems.
  5. Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings and translate them into practice.
  6. Ability to work independently or within a team.
  7. Comfortable working at heights.
  8. In-depth knowledge of preventative maintenance on cranes.
  9. IT literate with report-writing skills.
  10. Possession of a valid UK/Ireland driving licence.
