The Trust wishes to appoint an ambitious and motivated individual on a permanent basis to support operational management within the Surgical, Women's and Neonatal Services (SWNS) Division. The SWNS Division employs c.1,000 staff and is responsible for a wide variety of services including Theatres, ITU, Surgical Specialties, Fertility, Maternity and Neonatal.
Reporting to the General Manager - this post will provide general operational management and business support to the Trauma and Orthopaedics, Podiatry, ITU and Medical Secretary departments as well as direct line management of the divisional secretariat team. The post holder will be fully involved in planning and achieving the Division's overall business and financial objectives and will work as a member of the Divisional Management Team.
This is an exciting role for an ambitious operational manager to gain experience across a number of specialties and manage both RTT and non RTT pathways within them, an ideal training ground for a future general manager.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to work closely with senior clinicians, effectively manage performance against a range of standards and generate clear strategic plans for their services. You will be part of a team of five service managers who have specific specialty departmental responsibilities within the division.
Previous operational management experience is essential.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties:
- Work with the divisional management team, Associate Medical Director, Divisional Operations Director, General Manager, Head of Nursing and Head of Midwifery and clinical staff to ensure the achievement of performance and other local and national clinical and non-clinical targets.
- Work with the divisional management team within specific clinical areas and in partnership with other Service Managers and clinicians to ensure the effective provision of consistent quality services.
- Provide first line operational management to outpatient, inpatient and administrative departments and supervise systems and processes for specific areas.
- In liaison with the Divisional Quality and Risk Manager ensure appropriate systems and processes are established in departments to support the robust reporting and progress of governance, risk, and safeguarding issues
- Manage designated financial resources within budget and support the Divisional Operations Director/General Manager/Head of Nursing/Head of Midwifery in financial management within the Division
- Support the development of service line reporting and service line management across the division
