Service Engineer

An experienced Service Engineer is required for a machine tool service provider. You will ideally be based in the Midlands or North UK due to the areas being covered.

As the sole UK agent to a European brand, their CNC machine tools are globally recognised. They have a strong network of service engineers, along with 2 additional technical support staff who are office-based. They have a head office here in the UK for operations and storage.

This role will involve a lot of product training and investment from the company to bring you up to date with their full machine tool range. Once fully trained, this role would require someone flexible enough to work in areas including the Midlands and North UK.

Benefits include an excellent base salary of £40 - £43K depending on experience, a salary review after successful probation, plus an OTE of £55K+ with overtime weekday/weekends, company vehicle with a choice of car or car allowance, meal allowances, mobile phone & laptop, 33 days holiday, death in service insurance, and a private pension.

Responsibilities for the Service Engineer include:

1. Carrying out breakdown repairs and maintenance of CNC Machines including multi-axis mills and lathes.
2. Routine service and inspections, as well as fault finding.
3. Carrying out both mechanical and minor electrical repairs to the machinery.
4. Machine levelling and alignments.
5. Installation and commissioning of machinery on site.
6. Ordering of parts from the office, replacing and retrofitting.
7. Providing end user training and customer support both remotely and on site.
8. Product training in Germany will be provided, along with job shadowing with engineers in the team.

We would love to hear from suitable candidates with the following skills and experience:

1. Previous experience as a CNC Service Engineer, or Service Technician.
2. Confidence with either electrical or mechanical breakdowns of machinery.
3. Experience working with either FANUC or Siemens controls.
4. Good knowledge of fault-finding, diagnostics checking and equipment inspections.
5. Willingness to travel and occasional overnight stays when required.
6. Clean driving license.
