Service Charge Accountant - Remote - 6 month FTC, potential to go permanent
Remote, Field based Travel (based around Birmingham, Luton, New Milton, Exeter, London)
from £30,000, depending on experience

My client, a leading and award-winning property management company with portfolios all over England, Scotland and Wales, are on the lookout for a motivated Service Charge Accountant to join their growing service charge team.

Although this will be a remote role, candidates need to be based near either Birmingham, Luton, New Milton, Exeter or London as this may require some occasional travel to their client sites.

Duties:

  1. Produce accurate and timely service charge accounts, ensuring compliance with internal, regulatory, and legislative standards.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues to deliver financial reporting and contribute to the smooth running of their service charge operations.
  3. Assist in preparing service charge account packs for all properties within 6 months of year-end.
  4. Resolve accountancy queries by liaising with Property Managers.
  5. Work with external accountants to ensure their service charge account packs align with the internal accounts.
  6. Follow up with external accountants to ensure timely distribution of accounts to leaseholders.
  7. Support the reconciliation and year-end closing on Qube after accounts are signed, ensuring charges are raised where necessary.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in service charge, account reconciliation and financial statements (trial balances, income & expenditure accounts, balance sheets).
  2. Working towards an accountancy qualification (AAT/ACCA or equivalent).
  3. Strong communication and listening skills.
  4. Proficient in Excel and computer literacy.
  5. Good organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  6. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Knowledge of Qube, Propman, or Resident systems would be an advantage.
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
