Our client is a UK subsidiary of a Global Financial Institution. The role is for an experienced Business Analyst/Tester with expertise in SEPA Instant Payments to support the successful implementation and enhancement of SEPA Instant Payment services. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and payment scheme providers to analyze business requirements, design workflows, and rigorously test the system to ensure compliance with SEPA Instant Payment standards. Your efforts will ensure smooth, real-time payment processing with a focus on speed, accuracy, and regulatory adherence.
Responsibilities
Business Analysis:
Requirements Gathering: Engage with business units, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements related to SEPA Instant Payments. Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and user stories for the development and testing teams.
Business Process Design: Map current payment processes and propose enhancements for real-time, 24/7 SEPA Instant Payments processing, ensuring compliance with SEPA Instant Payment Scheme rules and regulations. Collaborate with IT and business teams to design new workflows and solutions for enhanced user experience, faster processing times, and robust transaction monitoring.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external SEPA providers to ensure alignment on project objectives and timelines. Conduct workshops, meetings, and presentations to ensure all parties understand the requirements, system changes, and testing outcomes.
Testing:
Test Planning & Strategy: Develop a comprehensive testing strategy for SEPA Instant Payment services, including functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure the system meets business and regulatory requirements. Create detailed test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria based on business and technical specifications.
Test Execution: Conduct thorough testing of SEPA Instant Payment functionalities, including real-time transaction flows, message formats (ISO 20022), reconciliation, and exception handling. Validate that the system supports 24/7 availability, instant fund transfers (within 10 seconds), and compliance with scheme rules on maximum transaction limits and timeout periods.
Defect Tracking & Resolution: Document and report defects, ensuring timely resolution by collaborating closely with developers and technical teams. Manage retesting of resolved defects to ensure issues are fully addressed and that system functionality remains intact.
End-to-End Testing: Conduct end-to-end testing of SEPA Instant Payments across various scenarios, including successful payments, payment rejections, chargebacks, and fraud prevention processes.
SEPA Instant Payments Expertise:
SEPA Instant Payments Knowledge: Stay up to date with SEPA Instant Payment Scheme guidelines, including transaction limits, processing timeframes, and adherence to the ISO 20022 messaging standard. Ensure the payment system's full compliance with regulatory requirements for SEPA Instant, such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) rules.
Payments Infrastructure: Work closely with technical teams to ensure seamless integration with external payment gateways, clearing houses, and interbank networks for SEPA Instant Payments.
SKILLS
Must have:
5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or Tester role within payments environment.
Proven experience with SEPA Instant Payments or similar real-time payment systems.
Experience working on payment engine upgrades, implementations, or migrations.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of SEPA Instant Payment Scheme, including ISO 20022 messaging standards (pain, pacs, camt).
Familiarity with real-time, 24/7 payments processing systems and related banking operations.
Experience with business process modelling, use cases, and writing detailed business/functional specifications.
Proficiency in creating and executing test plans, managing defects, and working with testing tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM).
