Salary: £27,600- £37,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Introduction

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Channel Coordinator to join our dynamic YouTube team within the BBC Children's and Education department. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and publishing content across our YouTube channels. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and key stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely execution of content strategies that drive organic reach and audience engagement on the YouTube platform.

This is an exciting opportunity to craft engaging content and develop strategies that amplify our BBC Children's brands and campaigns, reaching preschool and young audiences on the world's largest video platform. Our team works across a wide range of content for young audiences, from preschool shows like CBeebies featuring popular talent and brands such as Andy Day, Bluey, Hey Duggee, and Numberblocks, to beloved programs like Horrible Histories, Operation Ouch, Shaun The Sheep, BBC Newsround, and Bitesize GCSE.

As part of this team, you will play a key role in communicating our brand values, delivering our public service mission, driving reach and growth, and supporting the launch of BBC programmes, services, and initiatives across our BBC Children's and Education YouTube channels.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all inquiries related to scheduling and transmission, offering expert guidance and solutions across teams.
  • Oversee the input, maintenance, and optimization of scheduling information in systems and databases, ensuring accurate and efficient data management.
  • Make recommendations to scheduling content in teamwork with Schedule Managers and/or Coordinators, taking into account compliance and suitability for our audience.
  • To be authority regarding certain detailed scheduling attributes, ensuring all content is accurately curated, timed, and cleared.
  • Coordinate with content teams to manage standby content, cancellations, and any last-minute adjustments, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Analyse performance metrics and audience data to inform Schedule Manager, proactively making adjustments based on real-time insights and trends.
  • Serve as liaison between scheduling teams and other departments, ensuring alignment on priorities, plans, and content delivery.
  • Assume responsibility for the editorial integrity and compliance of scheduling across all designated output.
  • Effectively escalate and manage any content-related issues, such as compliance, editorial, or legal concerns, collaborating with senior managers to implement necessary revisions swiftly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support the adaptation of content across multiple platforms, ensuring a cohesive and consistent user experience.
  • Oversee the management of content availability, ensuring that programs with rights or exemption issues are accurately represented and tracked in all relevant systems.


Are you the right candidate?

  • Proven experience working in an administrative team, within TV/Social scheduling, presentation planning, or VOD environments.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of YouTube strategies for organic reach, including SEO, metadata, and audience growth.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and manage relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools and software, including video editing software and YouTube analytics platforms.
  • A keen interest and understanding of kids' content and brands in the UK, with an ability to tailor content strategies for a young audience.
