Hours: 30-40 hours per week, with no out-of-hours, and 1:5 weekends (Part-time applicants considered)

About us
This location offers the perfect blend of city and countryside, just 30 minutes from the beach, 15 minutes from the broads, and only 5 minutes’ drive from the city centre. The city centre boasts a fantastic array of shops, historic architecture, and a beautiful cathedral.
We are one of three locally connected practices, each individually owned and operated. Our clinic features superb clinical and support staff who will help you settle in quickly.
The team consists of three vets (two experienced vets and two new graduates), as well as six RVNs, one student nurse, and multiple support staff. One of the vets has a special interest in orthopaedics and surgery.
Our purpose-built practice is fully equipped with everything you need, and we offer support and development from a highly experienced regional team to guide you in your transition to leadership. Partnership prospects may also become available for the right candidate, as part of our ambitious expansion plans.
We have a supportive, experienced team with certificate holders in surgery and ophthalmology, as well as four other vets currently studying for certificates. Equipment includes a brand-new ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, endoscopy, tonometry, slit lamp, multi-parameter units in all theatres, and a full in-house laboratory.
All clinics in our local group provide:
15-minute vaccination and 30-minute clinical appointments

Implementation of BVA good workplace guides
Regular clinical meetings
Small animal GP status with PSS accreditation
About the Role
As a Senior Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a crucial role in mentoring and guiding the veterinary team. Your primary focus will be to support the professional development of our new graduate veterinarians, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide top-quality care. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinary professional who enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping others achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the team to manage a varied caseload and demonstrate ownership of your actions
Be responsible and accountable for the entire Veterinary team
Deliver top-class clinical standards and client care
Take accountability for absence management
Cover gaps in the vet rota when/if other cover is not available
Regularly assess and audit the Veterinary team, taking appropriate action where necessary
Confidently deliver high-level veterinary care and monitor patient progress
Prioritise emergency actions to stabilise and prevent animal discomfort
Interact effectively with the nursing team, understanding the importance of good nursing
Confidently handle routine and non-routine consultations
Provide hands-on coaching and guidance to veterinarians and veterinary nurses, helping them develop clinical skills and confidence
Design and deliver training sessions on the latest veterinary practices, procedures, and technologies
Offer ongoing support to team members, assisting with complex cases and fostering a culture of continuous learning
Assess the progress of team members and create tailored development plans to enhance their skills and knowledge
Work closely with the practice management and clinical teams to ensure all staff receive the support and training they need
About You
We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with proven experience in mentoring or coaching veterinary professionals, or similar environments. We are keen to help support and develop individuals with lesser experience but who are keen to progress their clinical coaching expertise.
You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. A Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) and full registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) are required.
