We can offer technically stimulating work on a massive variety of projects and for you to become a permanent member of our diverse and friendly specialist discipline within the Building Engineering team in London.

Sustainability is core to our business, and it would be a theme in all of the work that you do. You will be working on some of the most interesting and innovative buildings across the world with leading architects. The team is currently involved with over 100 projects worldwide from concept design through to practical completion.

The wider team is involved with a variety of refurbishment projects, including commercial buildings of various sizes and railway stations to enable their expansion and route to decarbonisation. Current and recent projects include residential and social infrastructure projects such as Ebury Bridge Estate and Canada Water Regeneration; rail projects like Euston Station, HS2, Sydney Metro; airport projects including Heathrow and Singapore Changi; commercial developments such as 60 Gracechurch Street, 8 Bishopsgate and 90 Long Acre; universities like UCL and LSE; healthcare facilities such as the new Moorfields/UCL Eye Hospital (Oriel) and unique projects like the Sagrada Familia and the new Museum of London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Being actively involved in leading and guiding the design and delivery of the VT systems using all aspects of your skills, as well as communicating with the project team, clients and external collaborators.
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of others, including other disciplines and in-house specialists, and providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
  • Undertaking project and team administration duties including planning and monitoring the time of others and managing the production of reports and specifications to budgets and deadlines.
  • Working to grow the organisation’s offering and technical expertise in the modernisation and refurbishment market and contribute to business development and bids.

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for a candidate who:
  • Has experience in the design of buildings and their lifting strategy for different lift types for RIBA stages 1-4. Experience of tall buildings is advantageous.
  • Is proficient in Elevate or other lift traffic analysis software, with a good understanding of running traffic simulations in a variety of building types.
  • Has a strong understanding of codes and standards relevant to lifts including: EN81 (all parts), BS9999, BS8899, BS7255. Knowledge of previous standards (e.g. EN81-1/2) would be advantageous.
