The Role

The Senior Designer is a pivotal role responsible for crafting exceptional user experiences and visually stunning designs across our digital products and platforms. You will play a key part in shaping our products ensuring they are accessible, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing. Working closely with the Head of Design and cross-functional product teams, you will translate user needs and business objectives into innovative and engaging design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Execution and Oversight: Lead the design process from concept to implementation, creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web or mobile applications.
  • User-Centred Design: Champion user-centred design principles, conducting user research, usability testing, and incorporating feedback to continuously improve our products.
  • Design System Contribution: Collaborate on the development and maintenance of our design system, ensuring consistency and cohesiveness across our digital ecosystem.
  • Visual Design Excellence: Create visually appealing and on-brand designs that adhere to our style guide and best practices, elevating the overall user experience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design aligns with product requirements, technical feasibility, and user needs.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering their growth and development within the team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

Knowledge:

  • Design Principles: Strong grasp of fundamental design principles, including typography, colour theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
  • UX/UI Design: In-depth knowledge of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design processes, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Digital Platforms: Familiarity with designing for various digital platforms, including web, mobile (iOS and Android), and responsive design.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Figma and prototyping tools.

Skills:

  • Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse complex design problems and develop innovative, user-centric solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring pixel-perfect designs and a high level of craftsmanship.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively articulating design concepts and rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and build positive working relationships.

Experience:

  • Proven Track Record: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in digital design, demonstrating a strong portfolio of successful projects.
  • Agency or In-House: Experience working in either an agency or in-house design environment, ideally with exposure to both.
  • User Research: Experience conducting and analysing user research to inform design decisions.
  • Agile Environment: Familiarity with working in an Agile development environment, iterating designs based on feedback and testing.
