Job description

Our UX team are seeking a star player to support us during a period of maternity cover. We are looking for a talented UX Architect to take on key accounts and lead User Research and Information Architecture activities on numerous complex web projects. This is not a pixel-pushing Figma role, but a true UX role. You will be leading UX Discovery and Definition phases while collaborating with designers and developers to bring experiences to life. This is an excellent opportunity to make an impact in website design and optimisation at one of the largest marketing agencies outside of London.

Position Overview:
As a Senior UX Architect at Jaywing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing comprehensive user experience strategies for our clients. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including client services, creative, web development, and analytics, to develop integrated plans that effectively meet our clients' objectives and drive measurable results. You will possess a deep understanding of user experience principles and best practices, with significant experience in website design. You will be a strategic thinker, a creative problem solver, and an effective communicator who can lead client engagements and drive innovation across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • User Research: Lead user research efforts to gain insights into user behaviours, needs, and motivations. Design and conduct usability tests, interviews, surveys, and other research methodologies to inform design decisions and improve product experiences. Conduct desk research, heuristic evaluations, and basic accessibility and best practice audits, including approach, recruitment, budgeting, facilitation, reporting, and stakeholder playback.
  • Analytics: Self-serve basic web analytics in GA4 and conduct analytical reviews and investigations to understand onsite user behaviour. Use tools such as Hotjar and Clarity to understand on-page interaction and engagement patterns.
  • Information Architecture: Conduct comprehensive IA evaluations and content audits to ensure optimal organisation and structure of website information. Develop clear and intuitive user flows, sitemaps, and customer journey maps to explore and document the user experience. Collaborate with SEO teams to align content strategies with search optimisation best practices, knowing when and how to integrate SEO considerations into the design process.
  • Facilitation: Design and facilitate engaging client-facing workshops for discovery, requirements gathering, and ideation purposes. Effectively lead in-person, remote, and hybrid sessions to promote active participation and productive discussions. Synthesise insights and create comprehensive reports that highlight key takeaways and action items. Proficient in using tools such as Miro and workshop tactics to enhance collaboration and creativity among participants.
  • Interaction Design: Evaluate websites and experiences against interaction design best practices, including mobile, accessibility, and persuasion, emotion, and trust factors. Produce wireframes to illustrate information architecture, content, and feature requirements. Prototyping skills are a bonus, such as the ability to create interactive low-fidelity (click-through) prototypes, suitable for usability testing.
  • User Interface Design: Please note that this is not a UX/UI design role but focuses more on UX strategy, user research, and information architecture. Collaborate with designers and developers as required, ensuring a seamless handover between UX, UI, and Development teams. Evaluate design quality using attention mapping tools while also considering brand, accessibility, and mobile best practices.
  • Management: Serve as project lead, interfacing with internal and external client stakeholders. Manage your own projects and tasks, ensuring accurate capacity planning and budgeting. Support Project Managers in requirements gathering activities and scoping, as well as assisting with effort estimations, timings, and scheduling for UX activities. Mentor and support other team members to foster professional growth and development. Occasional travel to client meetings and workshops may be required.

Skills and Experience:

  • User Experience: Proven experience in user research, information architecture, and interaction design.
  • User Research: Experience in leading user research activities, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Analytics: Proficient in web analytics tools, including GA4 and Hotjar.
  • UCD: Strong knowledge of user-centred design principles and best practices for website design.
  • Website development: Experience of working as UX lead on website re-platforming, consolidation, and migration projects.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically, identify opportunities, and develop innovative strategies that drive business impact.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and produce professional, high-impact reports.
  • Presentation and Delivery: Confidence in pitching and presenting, with the ability to think and respond to questioning.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, fostering creativity, inclusion, and driving consensus towards shared goals.
  • Digital Fluency: Understanding of digital marketing channels, emerging tech, and a breadth UX tools.
  • Personal Task Management: Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter: Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to take initiative within a small team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in User Research and Information Architecture for website design and development, preferably in an agency environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering User Research, Information Architecture, and UX Design for website builds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, along with relevant research, analytics, and design tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, Figma, Userlytics, Miro, Lyssna, Neurons, and VWO.
  • Demonstration of UX proficiency via IDF, NN/g, Miro, Hotjar, and GA4 qualifications a bonus.
