Job description

Senior Utility Surveyor
Location: Inverness (Can work from home and live anywhere in Scotland)
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Utility Surveyor ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a driven and knowledgeable Senior Utility Surveyor to join a thriving team working across Scotland. This hybrid role offers a great mix of home, site, and office-based work, making it perfect for someone looking for variety, flexibility, and rewarding career progression.

The client is a national surveying practice who have offices across the UK and have recently won some long-term projects. They are looking to establish a team in Scotland so this position will have the opportunity for progression as the Scottish business unit grows.

The Role:

In this position, you'll be leading the delivery of detailed and accurate PAS 128 compliant utility surveys across a diverse range of projects. You'll take charge of using advanced equipment and techniques to provide valuable insights to engineers, planners and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake PAS 128 standard utility detection surveys using EML, GPR, GPS and TS
  2. Post-process data and generate high-quality utility mapping and reports
  3. Interpret existing utility records, drawings and site data
  4. Use AutoCAD and other CAD/GIS tools for output preparation
  5. Collaborate with teams to problem-solve and validate data accuracy
  6. Supervise junior team members and manage site logistics
  7. Liaise with clients and project managers regarding survey findings
  8. Stay current with new technologies and industry developments

Requirements:
  1. Strong experience in underground utility tracing, GPR and electromagnetic locating
  2. Hands-on with Total Stations and GPS equipment
  3. Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  4. Prior experience leading teams on-site
  5. Working knowledge of survey and GPR software such as n4ce, IQMaps, or GRED HD is a plus
  6. Knowledge of CCTV drainage surveys and software such as Wincan is advantageous
