About the team

Worldpay powers 2.2 trillion payments annually across 146 countries in over 135 separate currencies with over a million merchants supported globally. Worldpay is the largest acquirer by volume globally, providing a reliable, secure, and scalable payments platform 24/7, 365 days a year.

Being part of the 200-strong Infrastructure Services organization, you'll help to engineer and deliver the core infrastructure services that power our payments platform. We're responsible for running some very critical systems, maintaining 20,000 servers via an automation platform, thousands of databases, and petabytes of storage hosted from our data centers and public cloud.

We're looking for a Senior Unix Engineer (IBM Power) to join our ever-evolving hosting team to help us unleash the potential of every business.

What you'll own

• Senior team member within the Hosting organization, which comprises Private, Public Cloud, and Monitoring & Observability.
• Initially, this will be a lead role in facilitating a data center migration and technology refresh of existing applications onto IBM Power 10's.
• This will then evolve into an ongoing role responsible for the operational and project support to include deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
• Ensuring ITIL / Agile procedures are followed, e.g., Incident Management and Change Management processes.
• Participation in an out-of-hours on-call support rotation.
• Collaboration with other team members or teams to develop and improve automation strategies and deployment processes.

What you bring

• Experience with the latest IBM P-Series architectures (P9/P10).
• Proficiency in all aspects of LPAR (Logical Partition) generation and reconfiguration.
• Installation, configuration, and upgrades on Advanced Power Virtualization VIO servers including Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA) and redundant VIO servers.
• HMC Management and Upgrades.
• PTF/Technology Refresh/Service Pack Application.
• Linux admin skills in either Red Hat or Oracle Linux.
• Act as an internal consultant to achieve common goals in design review, performance tuning, problem troubleshooting, deployment planning, continued maintenance, and analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving system issues efficiently.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for collaborating with team members, documenting system configurations, and providing technical support to end users.

Added bonus if you have

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education.
• Relevant certifications in IBM Power.
• Linux/RHEL Certifications.
• Exposure to Public cloud either Azure/AWS, etc.
• Knowledge of ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
