The Role:

Hiscox Re is seeking an energetic Underwriter who demonstrates industry experience and passion for delivering results. The incumbent will be analyzing portfolios to assist in making commercial and strategic decisions, developing relationships with brokers and clients, attending client meetings and may need to travel at times.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Underwrite a portfolio of US accounts
• Analyze market and target potential new clients
• Develop and maintain broker and client relationships
• Prepare reinsurance quotes
• Responsible for account/portfolio analysis and planning
• Assist in analyzing quarterly figures and identify reserving levels required
• Other underwriting duties as required
• Possess an industry related certification or progress towards one
• Minimum of 3 years underwriting experience which must include working with Property Reinsurance lines
• Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key clients and brokers in London, Bermuda and the US
• Experience using catastrophe models to price risk, such as AIR and RMS
• Proven experience in data analysis, including strong ability with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word
• Advanced and proven analytical and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work additional hours as required, in order to achieve business objectives
• Knowledge of third party capital utilization and implementation is a benefit
• Intimate understanding of the Lloyd’s market place would be a valuable addition
