We are delighted to assist a rapidly growing medium sized 3PL to find an experienced Transport Planner for their site in West Yorkshire.

Title: Transport Planner

Region: Bradford

Salary: £50k + Bens + Prospects

Hours: 50hr week. Standard hours of work are 7.30 am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday + Saturdays on a rota / on call basis.

Role Summary:

  1. Plan and oversee up to 50 vehicles on multidrop and full load road haulage. Route planning is UK wide.
  2. Work to deadlines in fast-paced, pressurised situations.
  3. There will be a requirement for a degree of out of hours work.
  4. Communicate with customers regularly.
  5. Work closely with the existing team to ensure key operational objectives are achieved through maintaining a high standard of service to our customers.
  6. Work closely with drivers, including agency drivers and subcontracted routes.
  7. Ensure on-time departure and exception reporting.
  8. Oversee traffic planners to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  9. Deal with breakdowns, traffic delays, accidents & all related admin.
  10. Ensure adherence to the Operator's License and driver's hours legislation.
  11. Ensure correct paperwork (including disclaimers and driving license checks) and briefings are completed with agency drivers.
  12. Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) and people development.

Ideal Candidate:
  1. A proven, hands-on Transport Planner who has managed routes across the UK.
  2. Will have planned routes for fast-moving operations ideally combining multi-drop, groupage & full load single drops.
  3. Must be flexible on working on an on-call basis if needed on a Saturday.
  4. Excellent communication skills with drivers, planners, and depots.
  5. Must have had customer relationship experience.
  6. Computer literate including up-to-date transport planning tools.
  7. Drivers or Managers CPC if possible.
