Main duties of the job

1. Providing clinical guidance and operational oversight to the therapeutic team
2. Step-in for clinical team manager when appropriate e.g. allocation/supervision of caseload. To offer line management supervision on an interim basis
3. Provide clear guidance on risk support and safeguarding to the therapeutic team
4. Contribute to and engage with service developments
5. Utilising a Single Session Approach, assess each referred child and young person as appropriate and liaise with wider services regarding their needs
6. Carry out Routine Outcome Measures as well as feedback measures at the appropriate points of the intervention as advised by the service
7. Provide the appropriate number of therapeutic sessions based on the service provision and young persons needs
8. Provide high level professional therapeutic practice using appropriate interventions which are outcome focussed and evidence based
9. To ensure comprehensive written records are kept of sessions, assessments, planning, progress and decision making
10. Appropriately identify and transition referrals between relevant programmes/other services as necessary
11. Pro-actively encourage service user involvement and feedback to monitor the quality and impact of our interventions and inform ongoing service improvements
12. Complete paperwork as required to show progress made and impact of provision

The post advertised is a full-time permanent position. The salary for this post is £37,244 per annum, based on 37.5 hours per week. You will be based at the Norwich Hub with a blend of working at the Hub and out in the community across Norfolk and Waveney.

Our Supporting Smiles service provides professional mental health support to children and young people through our Therapeutic Pathway for 4-13 year-olds and 5-18 year-olds with our Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner team. Whether residing in Norfolk or Waveney or registered with a Norfolk or Waveney GP, we're here to offer therapeutic support to meet children and young peoples needs.

The Senior Therapist will provide clinical guidance along with some operational oversight to support the clinical team while delivering direct support to young people and families. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the clinical team manager with clinical oversight, case review, and outcome monitoring for their team.

The post holder will hold a clinical caseload alongside their leadership and supervisory responsibilities.

Person Specification

• Relevant Professional Qualification, e.g. counsellor, psychotherapist, art psychotherapist, CBT/IPT-A/Play/Systemic Family Practitioner/therapist (non-accredited)

• Supplementary clinical qualifications
• Current registration with relevant professional body, such as UKCP, BABCP, HCPC, PTUK
• Qualified clinical supervisor
• Experience of multi-agency collaborative working
• Experience in the supervision and management of other staff

• Ability to establish and maintain clear boundaries in respect of personal and professional responsibility.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge, understanding and use of evidence based therapeutic interventions.
• Ability to work autonomously and make decisions to work as part of a team.
• Awareness of safe-guarding procedures for children and young people and vulnerable adults.
• Ability to follow Policies and Procedures in relation to Data Protection and Security, and Protection of Personal and Sensitive Personal data.
• Ability to keep accurate records including service user development logs and use recorded data for evaluation and monitoring.
• Be able to travel as required for the role (driving license and own car preferred).

• At least 2 years previous experience of working therapeutically with children, young people and/or families
• Experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and safety planning
• Demonstrate a commitment to continued CPD

• Worked in MDT settings/education settings/mental health service settings
• Experience working across a range of therapeutic modalities
• Experience of leading a project
