Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technology PI & Cyber Underwriter to join our Executive and Professional, UK team in London. The primary focus of this role will be to lead our contributions to the growth and build out of the Technology PI and Cyber lines of business from the UK. Day to day responsibilities of this role include working with the Head of PI and Cyber and Chief Underwriting Officer on medium and long-term strategy, launching new products and offerings, underwriting new and renewal business, utilising underwriting acumen to select risks within the company’s risk appetite and expanding and developing new business opportunities with brokers and customers.

We are seeking an individual who is energised, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence. You should be comfortable working closely with actuaries, the claims team, and underwriters from across the broader team. In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the utmost importance. The successful candidate will be focused on a positive customer experience, while maintaining sound underwriting discipline. This position is a great fit for a Senior Technology and Cyber Underwriter looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge with an experienced and well-regarded unit within a top global insurance company.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support the development and build-out of Technology PI and Cyber lines of business within London with the teams focus on profitable growth
• Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships
• Engage with key stakeholders within the business to help the continual development of policy forms and benchmark rating models
• Underwrite Primary and Excess accounts while ensuring appropriate analysis and documentation without sacrificing discipline, diligence, and quality service
• Maintain a profitable renewal book
• Effectively communicate BHSI value proposition
• Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of Technology and / or Cyber Underwriting experience
• Strong underwriting acumen
• Existing broker and customer relationships, or the experience and ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly
• Experience and understanding of policy forms
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Strong communication skills including negotiation and presentation experience
