Job description

Senior Technical Program Manager - Alexa International, Alexa International EU Tech

DESCRIPTION

Want to be part of the team whose mission is to expand Alexa to new countries, languages, devices, and cultures? The Alexa International team makes this happen. Our customers are very diverse in where they live, the languages they speak to Alexa in, the devices they use, and the content that matters to them the most. This means our problems are diverse requiring innovative solutions, so if you are interested in shaping the future of Alexa for customers around the world, come and join us!

We are the Alexa International EU Tech team and we are a team of builders that work passionately to apply cutting-edge technologies to solve real-world challenges. This year we have expanded our charter into the Alexa subscriptions space, working with partner teams to scale Alexa's subscription products to support the launch of Alexa's latest large language models.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join our new Alexa International subscriptions growth team to help expand and launch Alexa subscriptions globally. Your work will unlock the expansion of Alexa's new Generative AI LLM customer experience to International customers, to continue to push the boundaries of what a personal assistant, advisor, and companion can do. We're working hard to scale Alexa's GenAI experience, so if you want to learn about and embed yourself in a team launching International subscriptions and using LLMs, then come and join us!

By joining this team, your deliverables will have a huge impact on the revenue generated through subscriptions for Alexa. If you are comfortable handling a high level of ambiguity and enjoy working with global partners to create new impactful customer experiences then this is the position for you. If you enjoy a collaborative environment working with an experienced set of Amazonians across all 3 regions to launch the latest AI functionality to Alexa's International customers, then this is the job for you.

Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and deliver innovative features for Alexa. In this role, you will:

  1. Work with key stakeholders to define requirements, strategy, and delivery plans.
  2. Have the ability to take on projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner.
  3. Frequently demonstrate maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, the ability to influence, and team leadership.
  4. Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus the technical constraints.
  5. Lead cross-functional development on new products and features from design through to delivery, working with remote teams to deliver software and services in sync with launch timelines.
  6. Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks, and project progress.
  7. Work with your local Alexa International engineering teams to coordinate and drive delivery of the projects and products that we own.

A day in the life
At the start of the day, you will join a scrum session with the engineering team, to understand the team's project delivery status and to help unblock them if necessary. During the day you may update project docs and status reports, dive deep into a project's tracking and finer details, or disambiguate a project risk or issue. In the afternoon you may run a cross-team project LR, connect with a dependency team in Seattle to align on project next steps, or join a broader Alexa International team meeting to track and provide your updates on a project's progress.
