We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Systems Engineer. The role can be based at Isle of Wight, Portsmouth or Chelmsford and requires the successful candidate to be on site 5 days per week. Flexible working hours are available.

You will be working as a Senior Systems Engineer within the Radar team of multi-disciplined engineers, evolving clients radar portfolio of existing and brand-new radar products to address emerging and future threats in the realm of Future Air Dominance.

With demonstrable experience in contemporary Systems Engineering, you will become an integral member of a growing team to deliver next generation technology solutions and help develop clients junior systems engineering population.

You will be a key team member developing current and next generation radar products to counter emerging threats and gain an advantage in the strategic Future Air Dominance domain. Your new day-to-day will be exciting and diverse by applying the principles of Systems Engineering across the entire engineering development lifecycle as you join in developing radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Create innovative solutions to evolving technological and operational challenges for complex Multi-Function Radar systems that our clients and end-user communities are experiencing.
2. Using a wide range of expertise in systems engineering concepts and methods to provide technical solutions and address engineering problems.
3. Undertake system design analysis to manage trade-offs of system parameters to characterise and specify robust design.
4. Discern and decompose requirements to system and sub-system level and manage these in an approved toolset such as IBM DOORS Next.
5. Be a key technical contributor conducting system development and implementation activities, with internal & customer stakeholder engagement, and mentoring of junior engineering peers.
6. Working together with specialists in diverse engineering fields, such as software, mechanical, electrical, and electronics, to realize comprehensive system design solutions.
7. Planning and undertaking system integration and testing.
8. Contribute to definition and articulation of system acceptance strategies demonstrating system performance across a wide range of operational scenarios underpinned through production of customer acceptance evidence.
9. You will develop a broad knowledge base in radar engineering and enhance your personal profile with senior stakeholders through these efforts.

About You:

1. Understanding of at least one of the following subject areas: signal processing, target track extraction, object classification algorithms, system and sensor resource optimisation.
2. An appreciation of factors that can affect the real-world performance of sensing systems and how these can impact the accuracy and timeliness of measurements to meet challenging design objectives and requirements.
3. Demonstrates understanding and experience of Systems Engineering which could include knowledge of Systems Engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288).
4. Higher education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline.
