About the Opportunity
Join our dynamic and expanding business as a Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor, where you will play a critical role in providing expert guidance on environmental and sustainability issues to various project and framework teams across Scotland.
Business Unit Overview
You will become part of a skilled team of SHEQ professionals within our dedicated Environment & Sustainability team, supporting business units and projects across the UK. Our specialists are regionally based, allowing for targeted local support to our diverse projects.
Role Responsibilities
As a Senior Environment & Sustainability Advisor, your main duties will include, but are not limited to:
Developing and executing sustainability and climate resilience strategies that meet quality and timeline requirements.
Providing technical sustainability support to operational and support staff.
Preparing and submitting environmental permits as required.
Maintaining a detailed knowledge of relevant sustainability legislation, standards, and best practices.
Implementing and monitoring the Project Sustainability Plan and creating a Sustainability Register.
Identifying and facilitating sustainability initiatives, as well as monitoring sustainability KPIs.
Supporting BREEAM (or equivalent) assessments in collaboration with BREEAM Assessors.
Conducting sustainability-related assurance activities and managing sustainability opportunities and risks.
Ensuring project design and optioneering integrate sustainability requirements.
Conducting site visits, producing environmental reports, and advising teams on best practices.
Overseeing environmental incident investigations and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve sustainability outcomes.
Compiling waste management statistics and recording energy use to monitor carbon emissions.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Prior experience in Environmental and Sustainability roles, preferably in rail or civil engineering.
Relevant qualification (degree/diploma/HNC/HND).
Experience in construction project environments.
Prior ecological experience.
Membership in IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) or equivalent.
