Job description

Senior Community Engagement Manager - Onshore Renewable Energy

Office base in the Northeast of England - Hybrid working

Salary dependent on candidate experience: £45,000 - 60,000

Piper Maddox have partnered with one of the most reputable developers of onshore wind and solar technology on the continued growth of their team. Following a significant capital investment, our client is growing across the board and shows no sign of slowing down throughout 2025!

Our client has been in the space for over 20 years and over this time, has put together a multi-gigawatt pipeline of projects in renewable energy. They have close to 2GW of projects currently in active development, and a similar capacity in their wider pipeline. These projects center around Onshore Wind and Solar farms, with a number of their projects already in construction and operational stages.

Their negotiations regarding their capital investment were sure to maintain their existing pipeline and team - thus preserving the strong collaborative culture and team of experienced renewables professionals that have made this company the success they are today!

They are currently looking at growth in their team with the addition of a Senior Community Engagement Manager. This person will be responsible for devising effective strategies for engaging with local communities and relevant stakeholders for the development of renewable energy projects. Our client values this area of their business very highly, with an established community engagement team in place; this role is crucial for the team.

Key Skills Required:

  1. Experience in curating strong relationships with influential stakeholders within a project (local governments, parish councils, planning authorities, local communities, etc.).
  2. Attending public consultations alongside the land acquisition/planning teams to effectively engage with local communities.
  3. A track record of delivering effective communications and marketing surrounding project proposals and the benefits of working alongside a renewable energy developer.
  4. Experience in maintaining existing relationships ongoing within projects to sustain public support for projects.
  5. Comfortable and confident in leading strategy development and implementing this alongside the overall business goals.

The main body of your work would be alongside the planning team, with this role playing a crucial role in ensuring planning application approval for utility-scale energy projects. You would also liaise directly with the land team and the communication/marketing departments.

You would be joining a friendly team that has managed to strike the ideal balance of collaboration and seeing strong results, all while maintaining a hugely supportive and interactive environment.

This would be a great opportunity for someone experienced in community engagement who is looking for their next challenge in the renewable energy sector.
