Overview
The global business-to-business (B2B) payment market is in the range of USD 120 trillion. Most of it happens on non-card rails, representing tremendous growth opportunity for Mastercard’s Commercial Platforms. The In Control platform for Commercial Payments is part of the Commercial Platform family that is responsible for delivering safe, smart, and simple payment solutions to middle and large market segments supporting both travel (T&E) and B2B payments. The In Control platform generates single- or multi-use Virtual Card Numbers (VCN) with extensive user-defined controls to provide secure and controlled B2B and T&E payment transactions.
The Mastercard Product Management team leads the launch and delivery of the In Control platform that consists of ICCP (In Control for Commercial Payments), ICMP (In Control for Mobile Payments), and ICBT (In Control for Business Travel) products. As a member of the ICMP team, you will have the chance to shape and influence the platform using your customer insights and product development capabilities. As a Product Manager, you will become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the platform and work closely with regional account teams to support customers. In addition, you will work very closely with engineering to participate in product development activities. This role is heavily involved in defining the overall Platform vision, including product enhancement, support, testing, and release. This role will also support the ongoing development of the Mastercard In Control Pay mobile app.
This role reports to the Director of In Control for Mobile Payments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engage directly with regional teams to support partners and customers on product roadmap, product implementation, and demos.
- Work closely with engineering to drive development of new capabilities in anticipation of or response to customer needs, market trends, and competitive opportunities.
- Generate and evaluate ideas to enhance Mastercard’s suite of product offerings and create a competitive advantage.
- Gather, assess, refine, prioritize Mastercard and bank-initiated product requirements and coordinate with various stakeholders to improve and maintain clear lines of commitment to the bank and their customer base.
Role Requirements
- Possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to work with a globally diverse team across different time zones.
- Interact successfully with customers and Mastercard’s internal teams (engineering, account managers, legal, customer support, etc.).
- Develop deep knowledge of In Control Platform (ICCP, ICBT, and ICMP), payment processing, and the overall commercial business.
- Validate technical delivery and ensure that delivered functionality complies with the product requirements and is fit-for-purpose.
- Develop understanding of end-to-end product lifecycle (e.g., Studio framework), actively work to improve experience and skills.
- Drive product development focusing on customer journey and experience.
- Prepare launches and monitor product performance, adoption, and operational health.
- Create and elaborate on features keeping customer value in center focus and ensuring the stories in the feature allow the engineers to fully execute the intended outcome of the feature.
- Review information on competitors’ product offerings, business models, and technology innovations on a regular basis and share findings.
- Identify opportunities to improve overall product lifecycle processes.
- Make a point to listen, observe and understand senior management and cross-functional team perspectives and/or preferences; ask effective questions to clarify understanding.
- Use customer needs, research, user studies, metrics, and competitive analysis to document business and product requirements and inform the backlog.
- Display judgment to know when to escalate issues and liaise with cross-functional teams for resolution.
- Support and participate in post-launch reviews and ensure feedback is reincorporated into enhancements.
- Ability to research and understand market trends within travel, B2B, and payments industry.
- Own and manage product documentation ensuring it is clear and easily consumable by product, cross-functional, and engineering teams.
- Stay aligned with go-to-market plans for the product set.
- Report status and manage risks within their primary product team.
- Take initiative and actively seek and participate in activities which stretch one's existing skill set.
- Participate in team prioritization discussions with Product/Business management.
- Mentor and guide new and less-experienced team members.
- Share and seek knowledge within the Guild/Product to drive reuse of best practices and enhance productivity.

Background preferred in the following areas:
- Product management and development.
- Strong background in data and tools such as Mixpanel and DOMO.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive deep product insights from data.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in mobile payments/tokenization/digital wallet knowledge (Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.) or MDES.
- General knowledge of APIs and understanding how to read sequence diagrams.

- Advanced knowledge with PowerPoint, Confluence, Jira, Excel.
