Job description

Senior Specialist Pharmacist, Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

This post is a fixed term role to cover a maternity leave within the pharmacy team at St Mark's Hospital.

The post will support patients with intestinal failure as inpatients and as outpatients. These patients require nutritional support either given via the oral, enteral and or parenteral route. This patient cohort has complex pharmaceutical needs with special consideration needed around pharmacokinetics and drug absorption. Many advances have been made in our clinical pharmacy practice over the years; this post will continue to support these advances.

Full training will be given by the MDT. We are looking for a pharmacist who is a quick learner, has experience within gastroenterology, surgery and or nutritional support, or someone who wants to gain experience in a new clinical area. You must be able to work well with others and be able to work by yourself.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in weekend (Saturday and Sundays), late duty and bank holiday rota. There may be some cross-site working at Northwick Park to cover nutrition outlier ward rounds in the absence of other staff.

  • Helping to deliver, develop and evaluate pharmacy services to St Mark's Hospital in accordance with appropriate Trust and Hospital objectives in conjunction with the lead pharmacist.
