Permanent part-time Band 7 Renal Senior Specialist Dietitian (0.4WTE)

This is an exciting opportunity to support the leadership of an experienced renal dietetic team of approx. 8 WTE renal Dietitians and a renal dietetic assistant Practitioner. In addition, you will be providing band 7 dietetic support within the department and have a leadership role within the wider dietetic team.

Main duties of the job

To be considered for this post it is essential that you have substantial band 6 renal dietetic experience, and expertise in renal specialist areas such as satellite dialysis unit cover, peritoneal disease, pre-dialysis and kidney transplantation will be considered very useful for this role.

The ability to work autonomously is essential for this role, but you will also be supported by a renal dietetic operation lead and renal service lead.

As part of your role, you will take a lead in the development of the renal dietetic service and will be supported closely with your band 7 colleagues. This will include areas such as audit, clinical guidelines, renal team meetings & business planning.

One of these working days should be a Monday, due to the lack of band 7 renal dietetic cover on this day, but there will be some flexibility with the additional day.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Practice: Work as an autonomous practitioner working within the BDA code of professional conduct and the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics and standards of proficiency (Dietitians). Plan and prioritise own workload and evaluate own practice. Lead on coordinating management of patient caseload across the clinical team within specialist area and liaise with internal and external agencies as required (for operational and service lead posts). Complete any relevant Band 7 dietetic competencies. Identify and understand risks and benefits of own practice (and support others within your team to do the same). Seek support from management colleagues and peers when necessary (aware of own scope of practice). Aware of local risk escalation and reporting process and ensure that this is followed when a risk is identified.
