Job description

Sargasso is a small wine bar and occasional music venue with food nestled against the sea wall of Margate's harbour arm. We're looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. Working closely with the new Chef Patron in a fast-paced, quality driven environment, you will be hardworking and responsible with a positive attitude and a genuine love for seafood. The successfulcandidate will take on responsibility of the kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef Patron and have the creative ability to contribute towards the seasonal menu.

Salary: £39K (Inc. Bonus)

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has at least 2 years of working experience in a proven managerial F&B environment
  • Must be knowledgeable and passionate about food, ingredients, seasonality and cooking techniques and be able to transfer their enthusiasm on to the team
  • Has the skills and experience necessary to effectively help train and manage teams
  • Have great attention to cleanliness, organisation and detail and good understanding of current food hygiene regulations
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide an excellent and consistent customer experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Chef Patron with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
  • Opening and closing duties
  • Preparing the kitchen and team for service
  • Maintaining the standards set in all areas of the kitchen from food production, cleaning and health & safety
  • Assisting with costing of dishes
  • Assisting with weekly stocktaking
  • Assisting with menu development
  • Assist with the training and development of all kitchen staff
