Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £55,000 dependent on experience

What you'll be doing:

1. Designing, reviewing, developing, testing, documenting, configuring and delivering software products to the agreed standards and procedures using the specified tools, within schedule and estimates
2. Resolving the complex challenges, issues and faults associated with installation, commissioning, operation and performance of systems
3. Providing specialist technical advice and guidance to other professionals, technician engineers and/or customers, and works with a high degree of technical autonomy
4. Testing software products sufficiently to ensure software product quality is maintained and minimal or no re-work is required
5. Investigating and resolving issues and problems raised during any stage of the development lifecycle, including software and system integration, qualification, and in-service trials
6. Production of appropriate technical documentation
7. Communicating effectively, identifying early potential risks, seeking clarification and providing feedback to team members and leadership
8. Supporting estimation of development activities

Your skills and experiences:

1. BEng/BSc in Computer Science or similar software qualification
2. Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle
3. Excellent software coding, integration and testing skills
4. Extensive knowledge of programming languages, C++, C# and Ada highly desirable

The Mimesis Product team:

Mimesis provides a battlespace simulation of the maritime world; from terrain and seabed to weather and underwater acoustics, accurately modelling the movement and behaviour of ships, submarines and other platforms, and digitally replicating their unique capabilities (sonars, radars, weapons). Our product supports naval training, enables customers to experiment with novel concepts or capabilities, and allows design teams to conduct test and integration of new platform systems and capability upgrades, reducing operational risk.

As a Software Engineer within the Mimesis team, you will be part of a growing team of software engineers in the design and development of new modules and content for the product, working closely with the Software Team Lead and other engineers to develop and support Mimesis for our customers.
