Job description

Senior Software Engineer

JavaScript / TypeScript - GIS - AWS

£(phone number removed) per day, Outside IR35

Start ASAP - initially until the end of September ( + Likely extensions)

Fully Remote - Must be UK based

One of our valued partners requires the services of 2 x highly experienced Senior Software Engineers to join a project team delivering a large, high profile, Government program.

Prior public sector or government sector experience would be highly desirable, and strong communication and customer engagement skills are essential!

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Design, build, and deploy production-ready code for the project using the departments development skeleton framework
  2. Implement geospatial data visualisation features using specialised 3rd party libraries integrated with a focus on existing (back-end) code
  3. Develop secure integration with the departments audit service and implement security controls as agreed with Security Architects
  4. Create accessible interfaces that meet WCAG 2.2 standards
  5. Support penetration testing, performance testing, and accessibility testing activities
  6. Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in an agile environment
  7. Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance as needed

Technical Skills Required:
  1. Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and front-end frameworks (React preferred)
  2. Experience with geospatial data visualisation libraries and tools
  3. Strong understanding of web application security principles and implementation
  4. Experience implementing accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2)
  5. Knowledge of AWS services and cloud-based application development
  6. Understanding of API design and development
  7. Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
  8. Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows

Desired Experience:
  1. Previous experience with geospatial data visualisation applications
  2. Experience developing data annotation or data quality tools
  3. Understanding of data matching algorithms and techniques
  4. Experience with government or public sector software development
  5. Experience with agile development methodologies
  6. History of successfully deploying applications to production environments

1 stage 45 minute screening interviews will commence week commencing the 21st of April.
