As Senior Social Media Manager you will be responsible for the overall delivery of highly engaging, on-trend content across all Nottingham Forest, Nottingham Forest Academy and Nottingham Forest Women’s social media accounts. Reporting to the Marketing Director, this role is key in redefining and optimising the club’s organic presence across all major social platforms, making recommendations on best practice to enhance fan engagement and to help establish new content partnerships to drive new revenue through content. Working closely with the club’s wider content team you’ll be required to ideate, plan, and publish content, continually challenging yourself in our content delivery with high levels of creativity and innovation.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Marketing Director to develop and execute a comprehensive publishing strategy aligned with the club’s overarching content strategy and develop a set of KPIs to ensure the club continues to grow its social media presence
  • Work closely with the communications team to ensure all output aligns with broader communications strategy.
  • Lead the development of a content calendar, posting schedule, and campaign plans to ensure consistent and engaging content across all social media platforms.
  • Stay aware of content trends and audience preferences, keep up to date with social media best practices, trends, tools, technologies and techniques to create and flawlessly execute the club’s social media vision and content strategy across all social platforms and channels.
  • Define and monitor KPIs of the platforms and channels and provide regular insights reports to senior management, whilst providing feedback on performance to the wider content team to improve output and grow channels.
  • Primary responsibility for managing and growing the club’s YouTube channel
  • Monitor fan feedback and comments on social media channels to proactively feedback to the wider communications team to address inquiries, concerns, and issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide first-rate coverage of the Nottingham Forest first team with oversight of coverage across the Nottingham Forest Academy and Nottingham Forest Women’s matches
  • Brief in social content to internal design and video teams
  • Work closely with marketing and partnerships to deliver club and partner campaigns
  • Create social media assets using templates and club tools
  • Line management duty of up-to three members of the team


Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Passion for all things sport and ideally for Football
  • Previous team leadership experience within a Social Media department
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders, to develop and implement comprehensive social media publishing strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices. Ability to adapt strategies based on emerging trends and platform updates to ensure continued growth and engagement across multiple channels.
  • Technical proficiency with the Adobe suite, Meta Business Suite and Youtube Studio
  • Strong organisational skills to lead the development of content calendars, posting schedules, and campaign plans to maintain a consistent, engaging presence across social media channels.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting, tracking, and analysing key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns.
  • Ability using tools to generate detailed insights reports (e.g. Blinkfire) for senior management and provide actionable feedback to the content team.
  • Ability to brief internal design and video teams effectively, ensuring high-quality social content that meets brand standards.
  • Experience in creating social media assets using templates and digital tools is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and tasks simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Experience in working closely with internal departments like communications, marketing, and partnerships to ensure cohesive messaging and deliver club and partner campaigns effectively.
  • Expertise in managing YouTube channels, including content, audience engagement, and channel growth strategies. Understanding of YouTube analytics and video SEO is a plus.
